Sweet Beginnings!

Hello Everybody!

After a really long wait, finally, I am launching a recipe blog with my mom, Sarada Tilak, also known to most people as Shanti!! “Cooking with Mom and Me” is… just that. Cooking with mom and me! I’m planning on posting my mom’s recipes and my recipes as well. Most traditional Indian recipes would be my mom’s as I just use her recipes, so you don’t really need to worry about how it would come out. 😉

Well, I created the blog yesterday, which was Maha Sankataharachathurthi. So I thought, why not start off the blog with one of the most favorite sweets in South India, which is also prepared on that day – The Kozhakattai, specifically the sweet one made with jaggery and coconut.

The posts would have a pretty simple structure – the list of ingredients and the method, and of course approximate preparation time and serving size. We’ll also add some tips and suggestions and also short notes on the history or the importance of the dish, or anything that is related to it. Also, I shall try to post ahead the recipes for upcoming festivals so you have them handy when you prepare the dishes on the day. If there are recipes already written and keep repeating for festivals, (well, most sweets are prepared often), I shall link to that recipe on the post talking about the festival.

I hope this sounds good. Please do send in suggestions. We would love to hear from you. 🙂

Now, let’s get cooking!
